Remuneration: Annual salary commencing at $83,334.03, plus up to 13% superannuation

Role Overview

The purpose of the Officer Fleet Maintenance position is to schedule the various jobs for the workshop. These jobs will include the maintenance, break downs and planned repairs for both the John St and Kilkivan Workshops. 

 

What we are looking for:

  •       The incumbent will be responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the fleet maintenance program throughout the entire lifecycle of Council’s plant, vehicle and equipment fleet.
  • This role will not only be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of Council’s Fleet Maintenance Workshop, but also implementing best practice and innovative solutions for Council, contract and relationship management as well as lead continuous improvement in management systems, procedures and processes.
  • Efficiently lead, plan, coordinate and prioritise maintenance teams and workloads to meet service delivery requirements in order to achieve high quality customer service.
  • Maintain and monitor fleet safety requirements and provide clear communications to the Workshop Manager, Workshop Staff and other Council staff.
  • Investigate the suitability of new technology and training associated with the maintenance of Council’s fleet including preparing reports and recommendations for the approval of the Workshop Manager
  • This role requires the ability to make decisions on all matters which are the responsibility of the position, provided that these are within delegated authority, legislative requirements, established policy or recognised standards.
  • Provision of accurate recording of data in Council fleet management software system ensuring integrity of work ticket history of all work performed in Council’s workshops and external service providers.
  • Report on and ensure accurate recording of fleet asset documentation.
  • Manage the ordering and issue of resources in line with Council’s Purchasing Policy within the Councils financial management system
  • It is expected that the incumbent undertake other reasonable duties and tasks requested by Management within the incumbent’s capabilities, including additional duties as required during periods of absence of other staff.
  • Assist the Fleet Officer in the maintenance of Council's Fleet asset register.
  • Complete the procurement of all spare parts for planned maintenance tasks.

 

Essential Requirements:

 

  • Demonstrated experience in the services and maintenance of light vehicles, light and heavy     equipment, and heavy commercial vehicles.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with the ability to consult, communicate and problem solve effectively in a multidisciplinary environment within set guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to produce high quality documents with attention to detail and the ability to program, schedule and fully utilize Fleet Management Software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or in a team in a professional and positive manner with the ability to be tactful and discrete when dealing with matters of a sensitive nature.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of modern maintenance practices and the ability to apply them to a large mixed fleet to maximise availability, efficiency and reduce costs
  • Queensland "C" Class drivers' licence that us current and maintained. 

 Formal Fleet Qualifications and government procurement procedures would be highly regarded.
