Librarian - Information Services

Remuneration: Annual salary commencing at $90,446.20, plus up to 13% superannuation

Role Overview

This position is responsible for facilitating the development of effective and efficient information and collection services to the community and contributing to the development of content for the library's online presence.

What we are looking for:

  • Develop the library collection, ensuring it remains responsive to customer needs, integrating current and emerging technologies.
  • Ensure all research, information and recreational requests are responded to in a timely and professional manner with commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Work collaboratively to develop the capability of library staff to deliver efficient and effective customer focused information and collection services to the community.
  • Foster, enable and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to develop library information and collection services.
  • Actively participate in the Library Leadership Team, providing advice and contributing to service-wide strategic and operational plans, reports, policy, procedure and process improvement.
  • Provide operational support to the library service desk as rostered and undertake all related duties in accordance with Policy, Guidelines and Work Instructions.
  • Occasional out of hours work (including weekends), as well as Library staff may be required to work at any of the library branches.

 

Essential Knowledge & Skills:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Library and Information Science, including eligibility for professional membership of the ALIA.
  • Demonstrated library collection management skills including knowledge of RDA and cataloguing principles.
  • Demonstrated written communication skills and advanced research skills. 
  • Demonstrated industry awareness of current library and digital technologies and the ability to keep up with rapid technological changes in library service provision to improve the customer experience.
  • Project implementation/management skills. Demonstrated interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated management/leadership skills and the ability to motivate others.
  • Demonstrated experience with library budgetary management.

Essential Requirements:

  • Queensland ‘C’ Class driver’s licence that is current and maintained.
  • Working with children check – Blue Card or ability to obtain a Blue Card.
