Summer Break Internship Program 

Remuneration: Earn a gross weekly wage of $1046 for 28 hours per week plus superannuation of 12.5%.

About the program 

Are you currently studying, or have recently graduated and seek to apply your knowledge in industry? The Summer Break Internship Program is a 12-week paid internship program with Gympie Regional Council that will prepare you for your career through contacts, experience, and confidence.

The program commences in November 2023 and ends late February 2024, working 4 x 7-hour days each week. There will be an unpaid break from 22 December to 2 January 2024.
You can expect to earn a gross weekly wage of $1046 for 28 hours per week plus superannuation of 12.5%.

What opportunities exist

Council has positions in the following areas:
•    Urban Design and Town Planning (Town and Strategic Planning)
•    Corporate Services – Graphic Design, Human Resources, ICT (2 positions available depending on applications)
•    Environment and Sustainability (Waste Management, Environment, Animal and habitat management)
•    Civil Engineering – 2 positions available depending on applications

About you:

To be eligible for the Summer Break Internship Program, you must:
•    Be enrolled in a relevant tertiary course at the University of the Sunshine Coast and have completed 16 or more subjects; or
•    Have recently completed a relevant tertiary course at the University of the Sunshine Coast (within 12 months of graduation); and
•    Be able to commence on November 20, 2023, and work through to mid-February 2024 with a short break over Christmas-New Year.
