Automotive Electrician – Workshop Operations

Remuneration: Competitive hourly rate of $40.02 per hour, plus up to 13%superannuation.

Role Overview

To undertake, under the direction of the Workshop Supervisor- Gympie, and/or the delegated Leading Hand, all aspects of Auto electrical work including Diagnosis and repair of all Plant electrical systems, maintenance, and general repairs of Council’s fleet of trucks, plant, and miscellaneous equipment. Planning and scheduling of workload and interaction with internal customers and stakeholders.

The position requires maintenance and repairs of equipment across the region for all council departments if required. This includes Working out in the field and at our waste management facilities when required.

Essential Knowledge & Skills: 

  • Strong Fault Finding and diagnosis skills using manual and scan tools.
  • Dismantling, checking, and repairing and reassembling electrical components and parts.
  • Carry out Fleet new installations / Fit outs.
  • Performing rewiring of Fleet equipment when required.
  • Ability to procure required parts, accessories and consumables.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Essential Requirements: 

  • Cert III Trade certificate or higher qualification in an Automotive Electrical Technology.
  • Air conditioning License.
  • Construction Industry White/Blue card.
  • Manual driver's License (car)
