Role Overview
Gympie Regional Council has an opportunity for a skilled applicant that has the skills and experience for the position of Senior Officer – Technical Construction. Provide technical support to assist Road Asset Construction in planning and delivering road and drainage construction projects.
Essential Knowledge & Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to produce estimates and project plans for road and drainage projects.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work as a member of a team and communicate and respond effectively to a wide range of demands from different client groups, whilst maintaining good relationships.
- Ability to apply Quality Assurance, Workplace Health & Safety and environmental systems to construction contracts and plans.
- Highly developed computer skills, including spreadsheet, GIS, Microsoft products, and cost estimating software, and project management software.
- High level ability to read and interpret civil construction plans.
- Demonstrated experience in the development, implementation and review of Inspection and Test plans, and previous experience in undertaking field quality inspections and release hold points.
- Experience in Traffic Management Implementation.
- Experience in preparation of short form contracts, and contract supervision.
- Holds or is studying for a Cert IV in Civil Construction and a minimum of 10 years’ experience in civil construction including roadwork, pavements, storm water drainage and concrete works.
- Queensland ‘C’ Class driver’s licence that is current and maintained.
- Construction Industry White/Blue card.
Essential Requirements:
- Provide timely and accurate advice on technical aspects of works to both internal and external customers and other team members.
- Implement quality assurance system procedures and documentation.
- Prepare project plans in liaison with Supervisors and Coordinator Construction and Major Projects.
- Prepare Workplace Health & Safety, Environmental and Traffic Management plans
- Undertake Field Quality Inspections.
- Supervise Construction Works contracts including quantity measurement, quality, variation and payments.
