Officer Design Surveying

Role Overview
The Civil Design Team is responsible for providing design, drafting and technical expertise to Capital Delivery and Assets Branch. Reporting directly to Coordinator Civil Design this position is responsible for effective and efficient delivery of Council's capital works programs.
This role supports Council's vision of planned infrastructure that seeks to meet foreseeable future needs to support economic development, community enhancement and residents' wellbeing.
Essential Knowledge & Skills:
- Associate Degree of Surveying and relevant demonstrated experience in topographic and civil/road surveying practice and procedures.
- Registration with the Surveyors Board of Queensland.
- Well-developed knowledge and application of relevant legislation and statutory requirements and industry standards/guidelines.
- Well-developed experience and expertise in the use of surveying equipment and survey software/CAD programs.
- Well-developed time management skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines.
- Queensland 'C' Class driver's licence or above that is current and maintained.
- Construction Industry White/Blue card.
Essential Requirements:
- Undertake survey field works (topographic, engineering, geodetic and asset data collection) to support effective and efficient delivery of Council's capital works programs.
- Assist surveying officers and cadets in undertaking surveys.
- Application of surveying CAD software to create survey deliverables and information.
- Ensure all survey work performed by council adheres to current legislative and regulatory requirements such as the Surveying and Mapping infrastructure Act 2003 and Regulation, as well following industry standards and guidelines such as the Intergovernmental Committee on Survey and Mapping Special Publication 1.
- Provide technical advice on surveying matters within council.
- Provide technical direction and advice to Council's construction crews with respect to the correct and accurate usage and maintenance of construction survey instruments and software
