Remuneration: Annual salary commencing at $96,888, plus up to 14% superannuation

Role Overview

The Senior Supervisor Roads Maintenance works in close collaboration with the Coordinator Roads Maintenance position, directly managing all field operations, providing coordination, supervision and mentorship to supervisors, leading hands and crew members to ensure safe and efficient work performance. The role leads the delivery of essential maintenance for roads, bridges and associated infrastructure, embedding continuous improvement and exceptional customer service. This includes stringent oversight of financial management, ensuring value for money, quality products and timely project delivery.  

Essential Knowledge & Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability in leadership and management of teams.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant contemporary civil construction practices and legislation.
  • Knowledge of plant and equipment capabilities and requirements.
  • Knowledge of WHS legislation.
  • Experience using maintenance management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to calculate quantities and estimate costs.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and foster a customer service culture.
  • Queensland ‘C’ Class driver’s licence or above that is current and maintained.
  • Construction Industry White/Blue card.
  • Certificate III in Civil Construction/Civil Engineering or above.

Essential Requirements: 

  • Coordinate the human and physical resources in order to carry out maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all standards are adhered to in assisting and developing quality management objectives and targets.
  • Participate in pre-planning for jobs.
  • Participate in at least one continuous improvement project per annum.
  • Other requests allocated to the teams requiring tact, professionalism and judgement to respond to Councilor requests or reputation risks in relation to maintenance works.
  • Champion technology improvements to support a mobile workforce.
  • Contribute to the development of procedures in relation to area of work.
  • Work autonomously, cohesively and collaboratively with other Council teams.
  • Participate in the development of a healthy and safe workplace. Embracing initiatives, information and training and incorporating safety into all daily activities. Demonstrate safe work behaviors, abiding by procedures, identifying and reporting hazards, and contributing to all aspects of a safe workplace culture.
  • Identify new ways to improve work practices in accordance with Council's continuous improvement commitment.
  • Complete other relevant duties as required from time to time which would generally fall within the scope of this position.
  • Facilitate continual staff development within their work teams along with staff training as required.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Plan road maintenance activities including oversight of daily operations of maintenance crews.
  • Implement and maintain cost control measures.
  • Manage stakeholder/customer interactions.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability in overseeing multiple jobs.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Education or greater.
  • Knowledge of the principles of project management.
  • Relevant civil construction experience to identify, diagnose and resolve a broad range of construction or maintenance works activities.
  • Developing experience to identify hazards and take steps to minimise risks and ensure safety.
  • Traffic Management Implementation.
