Collections and Digital Services Librarian

Remuneration: Annual salary commencing at $96,888, plus up to 14% superannuation

Role Overview

This position is responsible for leading the Collections and Digital Services team to deliver a community-responsive library collection in physical and digital formats, providing a high-quality library collection in accordance with Council procurement policies and current industry standards.  

Essential Knowledge & Skills: 

  • A tertiary qualification in Library and Information Sciences and eligibility for associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Consideration will be given to applicants with tertiary qualifications in a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated positive leadership in the achievement of corporate goals and objectives.
  • Substantial experience managing library collections and digital services.
  • Financial and procurement experience including but not limited to purchasing, invoicing and budget monitoring.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the use of library systems and digital technologies and the ability to keep up with rapid technological changes in library service provision to improve customer experience.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and change management skills, with a proven ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Strong time management and project implementation skills.
  • Queensland ‘C’ Class driver’s licence that is current and maintained.
  • Working with children check – Blue Card or ability to obtain a Blue Card.

Essential Requirements: 

  • Lead and coordinate the efficient and effective delivery of Collections and Digital Services across the library service.
  • Develop the library physical and digital collections, ensuring they remain responsive to community needs, emerging trends and support accessibility, diversity and inclusion.
  • Manage vendor contracts and ensure effective financial management of annual budgets. 
  • Foster, enable and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to manage existing collections and digital services. 
  • Actively participate in the Library Leadership Team, providing advice and contributing to service-wide strategic and operational plans, reports, policy, procedure and process improvement.
  • Ensure that the community receives a positive customer service experience at our libraries, undertaking customer service duties as rostered, readers’ advice, technology help, children’s activities, community workshops and assisting customers to use the library.
