Officer Venues

Remuneration: Annual salary commencing at $82,559, plus up to 14% superannuation

Role Overview

This multi-skilled position is responsible for a range of key operational and administrative responsibilities at Council’s venues including event, and function support, building and equipment maintenance, technical support, as well as assisting with event planning and bookings.

Overall, this position is pivotal in providing operational consistency across day-to-day operations and the effective delivery of events and activities in Council’s venues.

Essential Knowledge & Skills: 

  • Experience in venue operations, events or hospitality.
  • Demonstrated experience in the operation of technical equipment including sound, lighting, audio visual, or staging.
  • Knowledge of building and equipment maintenance with demonstrated experience in facility operations and cleaning requirements.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively with clients and staff.
  • Strong customer service focus with the ability to be flexible and problem-solve under pressure.
  • Demonstrated experience working within a small team environment contributing to team targets/goals as well as work efficiently and effectively autonomously.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate within venue policies and procedures and meet Council’s Work Health and Safety obligations.
  • Demonstrated digital literacy and ability to work with Microsoft Office applications, venue management software, bar management software, and ticketing platforms.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol
  • Queensland Blue card for working with children and young people
  • Queensland ‘C’ Class driver’s licence that is current and maintained
  • RIIWHS204D – Work safely at heights or equivalent (or ability to obtain)
  • RIIHAN301E – Operate elevating work platform or equivalent (or ability to obtain)

Essential Requirements: 

  • Provide high quality customer service to external and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide high quality support for day-to-day venue operations and events, ensuring small scale event and venue requirements are well planned, communicated, and carried out to a high standard.
  • In conjunction with Council’s Facilities Team, identify and facilitate venue and equipment maintenance in a timely manner; ensuring venues are maintained and cleaned to an exceptionally high standard, and are safe and fit-for-purpose for stakeholders.
  • Provide high quality support services for the smooth operation of events, activities, and functions in Council venues, including acting as pre-event liaison, providing venue tours, inductions and orientations, contributing to planning event requirements,, providing event support including event set-ups, basic technical support, bar operations, Front of House, ushering, troubleshooting, or other support as required, and assisting with pack ups and post event clean ups as required.
  • Carry out administrative tasks and maintain records related to events and operations using Vend, Artifax, Microsoft Office, Ticketsearch and other systems as required.
  • Ensure production, catering, and cleaning supplies and consumables are kept well stocked and recorded accurately.
  • In consultation with the Senior Officer Venues Supervisor facilitate bar operations, order bar supplies, and maintain regular pre and post event stock takes of alcohol.
  • Facilitate catering services as required for meetings and events, maintaining good records of all catering orders and transactions, and ensuring all invoices are paid promptly.
  • Act in the role of Chief Fire Warden to ensure the safe evacuation of all staff, hirers, contractor and venue visitors in case of emergency
  • Act as First Aid Officer when required
  • Provide venue support and logistics for the preparation and delivery of Evacuation Centre arrangements at the venues as required.
  • Other duties as required within the scope of the position.
