Gympie Regional Council is seeking a Senior Officer Human Resources to join our People and Culture team and play a key role in delivering contemporary people solutions across the organisation.
Working within our Human Resources Business Partner Framework, you will be the dedicated HR business partner to allocated Directorates/Branches, providing expert advice, and support across the full employee lifecycle. This is a true generalist HR role, offering exposure to a diverse range of workforce matters and organisational projects.
About the role
As a Senior Officer Human Resources, you will work closely with leaders to build capability, foster positive workplace cultures and deliver practical people solutions that support operational success.
You will be the first point of contact for your customer groups, partnering with managers and employees across a broad range of human resources, employee relations and industrial relations matters.
No two days are the same. One day you may be supporting leaders through performance conversations, the next facilitating complex workplace investigations, analysing workforce trends, supporting organisational change initiatives or contributing to policy development.
What you'll be doing
- Acting as a trusted HR Business Partner to allocated Directorates/Branches.
- Providing expert advice on recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations and workforce engagement.
- Managing complex employee relations matters, investigations and disciplinary processes.
- Supporting leaders to build capability and confidence in people management.
- Interpreting and applying employment legislation, awards, enterprise agreements and HR policies.
- Supporting organisational change and continuous improvement.
- Developing and implementing HR policies, procedures and best-practice people solutions.
- Driving a culture of accountability, engagement and high performance.
About you
We are looking for an experienced HR professional who combines technical expertise with strong relationship-building skills who enjoys working collaboratively, influencing outcomes and finding practical solutions to complex workplace challenges.
To be successful, you will bring:
- Qualifications (or active enrolment) in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related discipline, or a minimum of five years' relevant experience in a human resources generalist role essential.
- Demonstrated expertise in human resources, employee relations and industrial relations, including the application of employment legislation, awards and enterprise agreements.
- Highly developed investigation, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to manage complex and sensitive workplace matters.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to coach, advise and build trusted relationships with leaders at all levels.
- Well-developed analytical and reporting skills, including the ability to interpret workforce data and provide evidence-based recommendations.
- Proven ability to lead organisational change, continuous improvement initiatives and policy development, ensuring successful implementation and communication of outcomes.
Excellent communication, organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes within required timeframes
