Remuneration: Annual salary commencing at $98,049 plus 13% superannuation

Role Overview
This position will coordinate the Environment Services branch to provide high level expert technical advice and direction for conserving, maintaining and enhancing the natural environment of the Gympie Region. As Coordinator Environment Services, reporting to the Manager Environment and Resource Recovery, you will guide, influence and work collaboratively across the organisation to champion environmental sustainability and educate staff within the organisation to ensure Council is working towards best environmental practice and reducing its environmental impact.
What we are looking for
Council is seeking a candidate who is passionate about the environment, with the ability to influence change. The candidate with a strong background in leadership, project delivery, environmental compliance and sustainability will be ideal for this role.
As Coordinator Environment Services, you will be directly responsible for:
- Providing specialist advice on environmental matters to internal and external customers and stakeholders, and with regard to Council's planning scheme amendments and priority local species.
- Ensuring Council is compliant with environmental legislation when undertaking programed works.
- Coordinating a multidisciplinary team, providing coaching and mentoring, and delivering environmental and sustainability projects and programmes.
- Developing and delivering environmental planning initiatives for biodiversity protection for Council.
- Educating internal and external stakeholders on the importance of environmental matters.
- Assisting in the preparation and delivery of the Environmental Planning Business Plan and various environmental planning strategies in accordance with legislative and Council requirements.
- Assisting in the preparation and delivery of reports to Councillors and senior executive or management staff as required.
- Assisting to Prepare and manage the environment services budget, and contribute to the annual budget review processes.
To be successful in this role, applicants must have:
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Planning, or a similar field, and/or significant and relevant experience in an environmental discipline.
- Relevant experience in the identification and management of local flora and fauna species.
- Knowledge of relevant contemporary environmental management practice, codes and legislation.
- Demonstrated experience in leadership and management of teams, including knowledge of contemporary human resource practice.
- High level oral and written communication skill to facilitate report writing, education and the provision of professional and sound advice.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and foster a continuous improvement culture within teams.
While not essential, candidates who hold a formal qualification in Management or Business Administration, and who can demonstrate experience in managing project teams and grants will be highly regarded.
