Role Overview

Council is seeking a qualified and experienced Planner to lead a team of Development Assessment Officers. Reporting to the Manager Planning, you will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of development services, including processing and assessment of development applications.  You will also be relied on to assist as required with legal appeals involving Council's development decisions, as well as to provide high level support to the Manager Planning, and technical advice on complex planning matters to internal and external stakeholders.  You will also be preparing and presenting written reports for council as required.

 

What we are looking for

To be considered for this role, you will require:

  • Qualifications (Degree or Post Graduate Degree) in Planning recognised for corporate membership by the Planning Institute of Australia.
  • Extensive experience in assessing development applications and providing technical advice on complex Planning related matters.
  • Extensive knowledge of statutory requirements and best practice relevant to Planning, and experience in applying such best practice to the assessment of development applications.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skill, and skill in negotiation on complex planning matters.
  • Leadership skill, with the demonstrated experience and ability to motivate a team of highly skilled professionals.
