Role Overview
Gympie Regional Council currently has an exciting opportunity for a HR professional to join our People and Organisational Development team.
This pivotal position is required to manage the People and Organisational Development (POD) Branch which provides key strategic and operational support to the organisation on people and organisational development related functions. These include payroll, employee and industrial relations, workplace health and safety, recruitment, organisational development, workforce planning and continuous improvement.
In addition, supporting the Executive team with a focus on effective decision making and collaborative contribution.
The position will be expected to:
- Effectively manage the organisation's human resource, work health and safety, payroll, recruitment, learning and organisational development, planning, organisational change and continuous improvement functions.
- Develop and promote organisation strategy to enhance productivity, legislative compliance, and the cultivation of an organisational culture that fosters continuous learning and improvement.
- Ensure a robust industrial and employee relations strategy and facilitate Council’s Enterprise Bargaining Agreement processes ensuring appropriate industrial relations instruments are in place.
- Develop strategic direction and goals required to design and implement a Workforce planning strategy.
- To actively contribute to the strategic direction of Council through Executive and Leadership team participation.
What we are looking for
To be successful in this position, you will be required to have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Human Resources, Psychology and/or at least 10 years experience in senior generalist human resource roles.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic organisational advice and manage multi-functional business unit.
- Knowledge and demonstrated successful application of relevant best practice industrial and employee relations, and organisational development strategies and policies.
- Demonstrated experience in developing innovative human resource policies and practices with a focus on business strategy.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting formal investigations, disciplinary processes and internal functional reviews.
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating the negotiation of Enterprise Bargaining Agreements and resolving workplace grievances.
- Well-developed interpersonal communication skills, with proven conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve outcomes through the effective management of financial, systems and human resources.
- Highly developed capability to influence a wide range of stakeholders and facilitate successful outcomes.
- Demonstrated participation in senior managerial team/s.
